Gordon Lucy (Director, The Ulster Society)

Born in Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh.
Educated at Portora Royal School, Enniskillen and Queen’s University of Belfast. Gordon Lucy has an Honours degree in History and is a qualified teacher.
He is a well regarded Ulster historian and the author of a number of books on unionist history, including The Ulster Covenant (1989) and The Great Convention (1995), and has co-edited (with John Erskine) Varieties of Scottishness (1995), which examines the relationship between Ulster and Scotland, and (with Elaine McClure) The Twelfth: What it means to me (1997), Remembrance (1997) and Cool Britannia? What Britishness means to me (1999) and most recently Schomberg (2004).
Mr Lucy is also Hon. Treasurer of the Ulster-Scots Heritage Council, an umbrella organisation for Ulster-Scots groups both in Northern Ireland and the Republic

Richard Scott (Manager/Project Officer, The Ulster Society)

Born in Belfast, Richard was educated at Knockbreda High School and Grosvenor Grammar School before attending the Queens University of Belfast where he attained a 2:1 Honours degree in Politics and Modern History.

After a year spent working in the banking industry for HBOS UK plc, Richard enrolled at the University of Ulster to study for a Graduate Diploma in Accounting. He completed this in June 2005 and spent the next 8 months working for the largest independent fire protection company in Northern Ireland before his appointment with the Ulster Society in March 2006.

Richard has represented Northern Ireland at the European Fellowship Conference in Estonia (2000) and Latvia (2002). He also takes a keen interest in cultural and historical societies in his spare time. Richard was a founding member and the first Chairman of Queens University Ulster-Scots Society and he is an active member of Listullycurran Ulster-Scots Society and Lower Iveagh Living History Group.
